The Host : I am Alia Mai, I am a yoga teacher with a Masters degree in Social Work and Mental Health along with a degree is Nutrition.
My studies over twelve years took me from the realms of academia to villages in India and Guatemala where I collected the wisdom which she offers to individuals who join me on retreat. I am passionate about the ability of yoga and meditation to help us live healthier, happier, more fulfilling lives.
I found during my thesis study that much of our individual stress, unhappiness, or frustration can be overcome by creating new neural structures in our brain.
The way to create these new structures is to have beautiful and inspiring experiences, these experiences not only give us hope but also physically change the brain’s predisposition to unhelpful ways of thinking. Realizing this, I have begun to curate group and individual retreats for people who want to create more beauty and connection in their lives. The best way to begin is to have an authentically beautiful and inspiring experience with yourself.
Having lived in Tulum for 3 years, I know Tulum’s best kept secrets. From sound healings to traditional Mayan sweat lodges to sacred healing water oases in the jungle, I will first speak to you about your retreat goals and then design a program that will help you accomplish those goals.
