The hosts : From sharing their daily activities and cosmicvision, to simply relaxing and enjoying Mayan cuisine, the Ecotourism Complex Mun-Ha Chac Lol offers a variety of opportunities to learn and interact with the Mayan Yucatecan community.

Romel is an anthropolist with 40 years of experience in urban, rural and indigenous movements. He has won cases regarding land rights, and is a co-founder of the cooperative Chac Lol. He is a local and international leader in indigenous rights and democracy, and passionate in creating a critical, proactive consciousness with the people.

Dana is an American social worker who came to Mexico searching for an organization who works to empower the people. She is the mother of three boys, and the facilitator of an English course called « English in Context» where her method can be summed up as « the sentence is simple, yet the meaning is complex, » incorporating simple English dialogue into group dynamics that explore the participants´reality.

Romel and Dana´s moto within their family and within their work is « Learn to teach; teach to transform. » During your stay with us and our partners, you will discover the cosmicvision and way of life of our community, and understand a different way of thinking than the one in which you were raised. 

The experience : Learn how to prepare the slow-cooked, underground prehispanic dish « Pollo Pibil ». Visit a local artisan and design a natural holding vase. Return and enjoy the fruits of your labor with a savory meal.
